this has been something I've been itching to talk about for years!! I always try to educate people on what the necessary items they should have in their kitchen should be.
Based on budget restraints for some, I know it can be difficult but investing in proper equipments, pay off on the long run. I'll keep updating as I get more affordable wares to add and suggest. So here goes
1. Blender/ Food Processor
This unique equipment is #1 one on my list. Simply because it helps make the cooking process easier and fun. Most come as a combo pack with a blender which is a good money saver. The food processor grates, shreds, whips and some even come with juicers. Now making salads, dough, salsa, and juices is just as easy as cutting and turning on a button
2. Knives
Now, you don't need to have more than seven or eight knives in the kitchen if you know what their uses are. It's in the maintenance and care of these beautiful invention that a lot of us fail. NEVER soak your knives in water they dull them fast. Once you use a knife, please wash and hang to dry. They are that special and deserve all the TLC they can get, once you take care of your knives properly, they will return the favour. PROMISE.
3. Pots
Here's another investment that will pay you on the long run. They are becoming a big part of the market and not just because they come in different colors, but because they are NON STICK and some are stainless. With sturdy handles that don't get hot when in use, also some come with fancy glass lids. They are made to withstand even our naija heavy cooking and when food burns, they don't stick to the bottom of the pot (say good bye to iron sponge).
Simply wash with soap and sponge and try as much as possible never to scratch the bottom of the pot as that destroys the elements used in protecting the pot. Most of them last more than 5yrs. Also do your research before buying them to know which works best for you.
