NIGERIA: 58 YEARS OF RETROGRESS

In less than two weeks, power will return to the people to choose their leaders in the forthcoming elections.

But there is burning question that ensures that we do not take 2 steps backward again. Have we gotten to the point where we have had enough? Then we must do our part.

Why am I writing this? I see the same mistake we made some years ago about to repeat itself.

4 years ago, there was a promise of CHANGE. Unfortunately, we are worse off than before and still waiting for the fulfillment of a change, for reprieve, for rescue.

We need to purge our country of so much.
Poverty
Bloodshed
Bombings
Poor Electricity
Poor Sanitation
Bad Roads
Lack of Health Care Facilities
Half baked Educational system.

We don't want a country that prides itself in promoting injustice and fraud.

A country that celebrates corrupt leaders who continue to oppress the people..

And what is worse is the indifference of the common man to challenge the cabals.

Are you comfortable with a country who refuses to recognize human rights and honour the constitution?

A country in which the government assiduously disregards the right of its citizens?

A country where freedom of speech is kicked against and the armed forces continue to abuse and brutalize its citizens?

Our President gets GRADE A medical treatment abroad meanwhile our health care facilities are in ruins.

Politicians give their children the best of education abroad while the education sector is in decay.

Our Legislative arm of Government is in a state of decay. Senators and Honourables have turned into a stage dancers, actors and comic characters. They are building bridges and roads meant for toy cars and calling it outstanding projects.

We experience too many forlorn hopeless situations yet we suffer and smile.

Two major parties are prancing around with numerous campaign strategies and propaganda. Both flawed and corrupt.

Both are recycling old members who shuttle these parties, disregarding and changing parties like underwear, feigning loyalty for political gains. How do you still trust people who act that way?

This is time to take our power back.

Wake up Nigerians! You can't sit at home and fold your arms on that day. Our inactions would be our undoing.

Vote for your rights to be protected. Vote for a country where every human life should be valued.

No one will hand the government over to you if all you do is rant on social media. It is important to participate actively in politics.

Exercise your voting rights. Use your PVC and ensure that you do your part.

We need to prove to the world that our democracy doesn't end in the books. It is practical and the government belongs to the people.

Let us secure a great future for Nigeria. The world has left us behind.

And to you reading this, if you ever find yourself at any position of influence or else else power, remember to always do what is right.

Nice writeup dear. This is an apt description of what's prevalent in our society. Its time for us as citizens yo vote in competent individuals who are capable of moving our nation forward,we shouldn't be swayed by their words and antics. Let's use our power right, we only get to do this every four years.
